We have newly established the Subcommittee on Data & AI Governance under the Risk Management Committee as our governance structure to ensure the safe, secure, and responsible use of data and AI while fulfilling our social responsibilities.
Background and Objectives
With the recent rapid innovation in AI technology and its growing adoption in business activities, the importance of data, which determines the value of AI, has become higher than ever. Conversely, appropriate risk management, including security and privacy considerations, is indispensable when utilizing data and AI. To build authentic, substantive data and AI governance that earns the trust of all stakeholders, we have established this subcommittee under the Risk Management Committee.
Overview of the Governance Structure
This subcommittee is composed of division heads and/or executive officers from Risk Management, Corporate Planning, Business Planning Promotion, and Legal, deliberating on policies and supervising data and AI utilization. The secretariat is jointly operated by three departments: Data AI Lab, the Risk Management Department, and the Corporate Planning Department.
Review and Reporting Process
To ensure robust governance, we have established the following review process.
- Reviewing departments refer or report key issues regarding data and AI utilization to the Subcommittee on Data & AI Governance.
- The Subcommittee on Data & AI Governance is obligated to submit or report these initiatives to the President and CEO and the Board of Directors, ensuring appropriate oversight that encompasses executive management.

- Formulating internal education and training programs
- Exploring permanent organizational structures dedicated to overseeing data and AI
